Key areas of responsibility:

 

  • Implement and maintain safety systems and drive a strong safety culture.
  • Attend team and supervisor meetings to plan and coordinate work activities; contribute to innovative project initiatives.
  • Report and investigate incidents, ensure timely closure of actions, review workpacks and SWMS, and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Work with site management to maintain compliance with NELNA processes and project standards; monitor and report safety trends and performance.
  • Monitor and improve safety performance, identifying hazards, assessing high-risk activities, and ensuring compliance by project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Participate in daily pre-starts/toolboxes, promote collaboration, adaptability, innovation, and ensure safety and sustainability are always prioritised.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, reporting hazards, injuries, and non-conformances while promoting learning and improvement.
  • Provide guidance and influence leaders and employees on OHS best practices, wellbeing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Notable and demonstrable experience in health and safety advisor level roles, with a minimum of 3 years in construction, mining or other heavy industries.
  • High levels of enthusiasm around workplace safety culture and training, with a true passion of the work and an understanding of the industry.
  • Notable understanding the policy and procedures, as well as the legislative requirement of the civil construction industry in Victoria. 
  • Proven experience in running safety reviews and investigation at both a high a low level, as well as being responsible for creation of policy and procedures for safe operations on site. 
  • Hold a valid Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
  • White Card, Driver’s licence, HRIW card, First Aid, and ICAM are all highly desirable.
