The Role & Project:

 

As a proud Thiess company, MACA will provide specialist civil construction services at a greenfield copper mine in North West Queensland, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People.

 

MACA is seeking a Environmental Advisor to join our team working on this exciting new project on a 2:1 roster.

 

Locals in North West Queensland, including Members of the Kalkadoon community and other First Nations people, are highly encouraged to apply for this role on a BIBO basis. Depending on the successful candidate and the candidate's location, the role can also be offered on a FIFO roster from either Townsville or Brisbane with accommodation on site.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Partnering with the owner’s site-based environment team to support compliance, monitoring and continual improvement activities across the construction program.
  • Supporting processes and systems that ensure compliance with statutory obligations and company commitments with ownership and direction being provided by the site team.
  • Playing a key role in the implementation of environmental plans and supporting procedures to support the achievement of project-specific environmental objectives and targets as directed by the company representative.
  • Measure and track compliance and performance against the objectives and targets and implement measures to address concerns.
  • Undertake training on environmental matters for the construction team.
  • Provision of environmental advice and support services to line management and the construction team.
  • Supporting and assisting supervisors and workers on daily environmental issues.
  • Commitment, respect and compliance to the MACA safety, health and environment policies, ‘zero harm’ objective, MACA’s health and safety initiatives, fitness for work policy and MACA’s vision and core values.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

 

  • Bachelor of environmental management or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
  • 3+ years’ experience in environment management in a mining/civil construction environment.
  • A current Australian driver’s licence.
  • White Card.
  • National Police Clearance.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with people at all levels.
  • Effective organisation and planning skills.
  • Intermediate skills using the Microsoft Office suite.
