The Role & Project:
As a proud Thiess company, MACA will provide specialist civil construction services at a greenfield copper mine in North West Queensland, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People.
MACA is seeking a Project Superintendent to join our team working on this exciting new project on a 2:1 roster.
Locals in North West Queensland, including Members of the Kalkadoon community and other First Nations people, are highly encouraged to apply for this role on a BIBO basis. Depending on the successful candidate and the candidate’s location, the role can also be offered on a FIFO roster from either Townsville or Brisbane with accommodation on site.

Responsibilities:
- Daily management of site supervisors/construction and workshop personnel including apprentices and sub-contractors to ensure all tasks are performed safely and efficiently and in accordance with ECA policies and procedures.
- When on-site, play an active role in crew changeovers to ensure that the incoming crew have a vast knowledge of recent incidents, planned major and minor construction activities, safety and training issues or requirements and general site events that have happened whilst the crew has been on R&R.
- Identify gaps in construction/processes and implement procedures to improve the situation.
- Ensure optimal utilisation of construction plant and equipment to make full utilisation.
- Plan, prioritise and execute unscheduled work resulting from changes in priority.
- Monitor plant and equipment requirements for the site/workshop and ensure construction tools and equipment are well-maintained.
- Assist the Project Engineers and supervisors to develop construction work packs.
- Assist the Project Engineer to develop and maintain all quality documentation, registers, ITR, ITP and their signoff.
- Authorise timesheets ensuring correct hours are booked to the correct codes.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and work within these guidelines.
- Ensuring the safety and welfare of all personnel, machinery and all company property is of the top priority.
- Commitment, respect and compliance to safety, health, environment and cultural heritage policies, ‘zero harm’ objectives, health and safety initiatives, fitness for work policy and ECA vision and core values.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- 5+ years’ experience in a site-based civil superintendent role in the mining/civil/bulk earthworks construction sector.
- A current Australian driver’s licence.
- White Card.
- National Police Clearance.
- Experience leading high performing teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills with people at all levels.
- Excellent organisation and planning skills.
- Intermediate skills using the Microsoft Office suite.
