The Role & Project:
As a proud Thiess company, MACA will provide specialist civil construction services at a greenfield copper mine in North West Queensland, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People.
MACA is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team working on the Eva Copper Mine Project on a 2:1 roster.
Locals in the North West Queensland, including Members of the Kalkadoon community and other First Nations people, are highly encouraged to apply for this role on a BIBO basis. Depending on the successful candidates and the candidate’s location, the role can also be offered on a FIFO roster from either Townsville or Brisbane with accommodation on site.

Responsibilities:
- The efficient and effective management of the commercial and contractual activities on the projects.
- Effective and consistent implementation of the company’s commercial policies.
- Direct and coordinate all cost engineering, cost reporting and forecasting.
- Work closely with project teams in the preparation and agreement of Head Contract Payment Claims including delay and disruption claims.
- Responsible for the preparation and submission of Head Contract Variations.
- Responsible for the preparation and submission of Head Contract Extension of Time claims.
- Monitor compliance with contract requirements and update registers.
- Responsible for the preparation, updating, monitoring and forecasting of project cash flows.
- Identification and recording of commercial risks and opportunities.
- Work closely with project team to prepare accurate cost and revenue forecasts and monthly reports.
- Assisting in the preparation of Requests for Quotations for subcontractors and supply items.
- Conduct negotiations with short-listed subcontractors and suppliers and prepare agreements for letting, in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Facilitate and manage JDE associated cost transactions.
- Preparation of progress certificates for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Responsible for the review and approval of sub contract variation claims.
- Responsible for the review and approval of sub contract extension of time claims.
- Identify and compile insurance claims in conjunction with Commercial Support Manager.
- Preparation and submission of monthly commercial reports to senior management.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Degree in quantity surveying, construction management or engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar position
- Sound written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
- Good interpersonal skills with people at all levels.
- Effective organisation and planning skills.
- Intermediate skills using the Microsoft Office suite.
