The Role & Project:
As a proud Thiess company, MACA will provide specialist civil construction services at a greenfield copper mine in North West Queensland, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People.
MACA is seeking a Trainer Assessor to join our team working on this exciting new project on a 2:1 roster.
Locals in North West Queensland, including Members of the Kalkadoon community and other First Nations people, are highly encouraged to apply for this role on a BIBO basis. Depending on the successful candidate and the candidate’s location, the role can also be offered on a FIFO roster from either Townsville or Brisbane with accommodation on site.

Responsibilities:
- Deliver training material to and ensuring operational requirements are met through the establishment and maintenance of job competency profiles.
- Train and assess equipment operators on site.
- Conduct site inductions as required.
- Arrange and coordinate external training for the site when required.
- Provide support to the Construction Manager, Superintendents and Supervisors in identifying development, upskilling and training opportunities of personnel.
- Ensure all training material meets the requirements of MACA systems, Client and legislative standards.
- Assessing participant progress using a variety of recognised assessment methods and techniques.
- Coordinating and managing training data for the preparation of reports on staff training development programs and assessments.
- Preparing and implementing appropriate delivery and assessment schedules.
- Owning, delivering and reporting on delegated training and development projects.
- Relief operating subject to all training and assessing requirements being up to date.
- Actively participate and contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of MACA work practices.
- Commitment, respect and compliance to safety, health, environment and cultural heritage policies, ‘zero harm’ objectives, health and safety initiatives, fitness for work policy and ECA vision and core values.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment 40116 or 40122.
- Extensive experience operating heavy equipment in a mining/civil/bulk earthworks construction site-based environment.
- 5+ years’ experience as a Trainer Assessor.
- Current Australian driver’s licence.
- National Police Clearance.
- White Card.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
- Good interpersonal skills with people at all levels.
- Effective organisation and planning skills.
- Intermediate skills using the Microsoft Office suite.
