MACA is on the hunt for a Senior Mining Engineer to join our mining business at the Gruyere Gold Project on an 8/6 roster, FIFO from Perth.

 

The Gruyere Gold Mine is an open pit operation located within the Yamarna greenstone belt approximately 200 kilometres east of Laverton in Western Australia.

 

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will assist with mine scheduling and planning to meet both client requirements and MACA production rates. You will also provide ongoing development of mine plans, methods, design, materials handling and cost analysis.

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with mine scheduling and planning to meet both the client requirements and MACA tender production rates.
  • Ensure advanced mine design work is carried out accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with contract management where required.
  • Menor and develop team members.
  • Produce and submit monthly progress claims in an effective and timely manner.
  • Assist with facilitating the drill and blast activities on-site.
  • Contribute to the design of drill and blast patterns and ensure drill and blast processes/practices are being carried out in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Provide technical input into the planning and coordinating of blasting activities.
  • Review drill and blast claims, sub-contractor claims and drill and blast design.
  • Develop, enhance and maintain professional relationships with key client contacts and site personnel.
  • Provide specialist technical input into team project work and input evaluation into reserve resource estimates.
  • Liaise with management regarding new/available technology on heavy equipment on site and where change may benefit the business.
  • Implement and review new technology on mining plant and equipment on site.
  • Review of sub-contractor service agreements.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of MACA work practices.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

 

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering).
  • Experience in an open pit mining environment.
  • Sound knowledge of plant and equipment best practice and operational performance to meet production targets in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse and show initiative and meet deadlines.
  • A strong commitment to safety in the workplace.
  • Current WA driver’s licence
