MACA is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our mining business at the Gruyere Gold Project, working on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth. The Gruyere Gold Mine is an open pit operation located within the Yamarna greenstone belt, approximately 200 kilometres east of Laverton in Western Australia.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will play a key leadership role within the Short-Term Planning space, overseeing mine planning and scheduling activities while leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Mining Engineers. You will be accountable for delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective mine plans that meet client requirements and MACA production targets, while providing technical direction and governance across mine design, drill and blast, and operational optimisation.

Key responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of Mining Engineers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, performance management, and professional development.
- Oversee mine scheduling and planning activities to meet client requirements and MACA tender production rates.
- Ensure advanced mine design work is completed accurately, safely, and in a timely manner.
- Provide technical leadership across mine plans, mining methods, materials handling, and cost analysis.
- Assist with and provide oversight of contract management activities where required.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with standards, budgets, and schedules.
- Produce, review, and submit monthly progress claims accurately and on time.
- Provide senior technical input into drill and blast planning, design, and execution.
- Review drill and blast designs, claims, and sub-contractor submissions to ensure cost and performance optimisation.
- Coordinate and support drill and blast activities in collaboration with site operations and contractors.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key client stakeholders and site leadership.
- Provide specialist technical input into project work, reserve and resource evaluations, and life-of-mine planning.
- Identify, evaluate, and support the implementation of new technologies and innovations in mining equipment and practices.
- Review and manage sub-contractor service agreements relevant to technical services.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across MACA operations.
- Demonstrate visible leadership and commitment to MACA’s safety, health, environment, and fitness for work policies, as well as MACA’s vision and core values.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering or equivalent).
- Significant experience in an open pit hard rock mining environment, preferably in a contractor setting.
- Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring Mining Engineers or technical teams.
- Strong capability in mine planning, scheduling, and Drill & Blast.
- Proficiency in Alastri (APS) and Vulcan.
- Sound knowledge of plant and equipment best practice and operational performance to achieve safe and efficient production targets.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a proactive, delivery-focused mindset.
- A strong and visible commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Current WA Driver’s Licence.
