MACA is on the hunt for a Senior Mining Engineer to join our mining business on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.

 

This role will see you assist with mine scheduling and planning to meet both client requirements and MACA production rates. You will also provide ongoing development of mine plans, methods, design, materials handling and cost analysis.

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Lead mine scheduling and short to medium-term planning activities to achieve client requirements and contractual production targets.
  • Develop, review and optimise mine designs, ensuring accuracy, compliance and alignment with operational objectives.
  • Provide technical oversight and support for contract administration activities, including scope management and performance monitoring.
  • Mentor, coach and develop Mining Engineers and site technical personnel, fostering a high-performance team culture.
  • Prepare, review and submit monthly progress claims and supporting documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Coordinate and oversee drill and blast activities to ensure safe, efficient and productive execution.
  • Design, review and optimise drill and blast patterns to maximise productivity, fragmentation and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership in the planning, scheduling and execution of blasting activities.
  • Review and validate drill and blast designs, production performance and contractor claims.
  • Analyse operational performance data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement across mining activities.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, contractors and key site stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, health, environmental and quality standards, while actively promoting MACA's values, policies and safety culture.
  • Support tendering, budgeting and life-of-mine planning activities as required.

 

 

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in open pit mining operations, preferably in a contractor mining environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in mine planning and design software, including Alastri and Vulcan.
  • Demonstrated experience in mine scheduling, drill and blast optimisation, and operational planning.
  • Strong understanding of mining equipment capabilities, operational best practices and production improvement strategies.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor developing engineers.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including experience reviewing contracts, claims and contractor performance.
  • Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver outcomes within tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Current WA Driver's Licence.
