MACA currently has an exciting senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Mining Area Manager reporting into the General Manager – Mining. This role will be located at our corporate office in Welshpool, but you will travel to site on a regular basis.

This role will oversee multiple mining projects across Western Australia, and you will be responsible for safe and efficient site activities whilst meeting the client’s requirements as per the contract. You will plan, lead and monitor your teams to achieve the desired outcomes whilst ensuring adherence to MACA standards, policies, procedures and core values.

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Deliver project performance in line with safe effective activities that meet agreed budgets, schedules and quality parameters.
  • Forecast medium to long term project development and evaluate progress against set objectives.
  • Working in conjunction with MACA project leadership and client management on site, determine the requirements for plant, equipment and labour to ensure efficient utilisation.
  • Monitor overall performance to ensure targets are met and take appropriate action to maintain targets.
  • Develop, enhance and maintain professional relationships with key client contacts and site personnel.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of MACA work practices.
  • Ensure the Project is monitored to ensure all risks associated with Health, Safety and Environment are identified and adequate controls are implemented to eliminate or to reduce the severity of risk.
  • Actively engage functional support team.

 

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Minimum of 10 years senior leadership experience in open pit hard rock mine operations.
  • Thorough understanding of Mining Regulations Act.
  • Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency.
  • Experience in leading teams, developing sound business relations with clients, ensuring strong safety culture.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering preferred but not essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety in the workplace.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple mining projects.
