The Role & Project

The M80 Ring Road Alliance (comprising of MACA, Acciona and AECOM) has been selected to design and construct the M80 Ring Road Completion Project. We are seeking to appoint an Environmental Coordinator to join our team based at our project site in the Watsonia and Bundoora area. This position will work closely with the project construction team by directly managing and communicating environmental requirements during the delivery of the project.

 

This package of works covers the design and construction of the North East Link between the M80 - Plenty Rd interchange, and the north tunnel entrance at Watsonia. Works include three kilometres of new freeway, two kilometres of freeway upgrades, construction of retaining walls and bridge structures, rail interface works, intelligent transport systems, and urban design and landscaping. This diverse and challenging project will be complete in 2028.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Implementation of Environment Policy, Procedures and Legislative Requirements
  • Assist with the implementation of internal and external audits findings (Improvement Opportunities, Non-Conformances).
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with other project functions
  • Implementation of measures to ensure compliance with project approvals, management plans and procedures
  • Conduct regular environmental and sustainability inspections and contribute to client and stakeholder inspections and audits
  • Conduct environmental monitoring, as required including noise, vibration, water and air quality
  • Monitoring environmental consultants during site works including contaminated land, ecologists and fauna handlers
  • Collection and maintenance of environmental reports and monitoring data
  • Development and delivery of environmental training, toolboxes and inductions
  • Planning for upcoming night works including noise modelling and analysis of noise monitoring results
  • Investigation and monitoring following community environmental complaints
  • Assist with managing compliance with Environmental Performance Requirements (EPRs)

 

We are looking for:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Equivalent
  • Experienced working out on site in support of a major infrastructure project
  • Working knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001) 
  • Working knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations and best practice publications.
