The Role

 

MACA Civil are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team in South Brisbane. Reporting to the Pre-Contracts Manager, the Senior Estimator will contribute to the optimisation of group estimating efforts by participating in the development, preparation, submission and negotiation of estimates, quotes, tenders, proposals, expressions of interest and pre-qualifications in line with the company policies, procedures and values.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

 

  • Tertiary qualification in quantity surveying, engineering, project management, construction, business studies or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10+ years post-graduate experience in Construction, Engineering, and/or Civil tendering in an estimating capacity.
  • High level of proficiency in using “Pronamics Expert” estimating software.
  • Experience working in a contractor business within the Civil Construction and/or Resources Sectors.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to business improvement and innovation.
  • Outstanding organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and internal stakeholders, while effectively and efficiently managing their output.
  • A capability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • An ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • A working knowledge of the commercial and pricing environment in which MACA operates including the markets and competitors.
  • Willing and able to do own procurement.
  • High levels of computer literacy with a focus on MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to set and maintain the standard.
  • Knowledge in using CATS estimating software is favourable but not essential.
  • State road authority experience is favourable but not essential.
  • Commitment to safety and progressive learning and development in the workplace.
  • A capacity to engage constructively and respectfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities to achieve high quality outcomes.
  • An enthusiastic approach about helping people learn and grow.
  • A self-motivated personality, enthusiasm and results focused characteristics.
  • Flexibility, adaptability and be comfortable with ambiguity.
  • A pragmatic and solution-oriented approach.
  • A strong ability to move between big picture and detail.
