MACA are seeking a Financial Accountant on a fixed term contract (to Dec 2027) to provide financial and accounting support and insight to the Aust West Assets/Finance teams, based in the West Perth corporate office.
This role will see you provide financial information with a high level of accuracy whilst meeting the tight month-end financial reporting timelines and complying with statutory obligations. You will be a key member of the finance team and directly contribute to the effectiveness of our project delivery and success. Key result areas include:
- Manage, direct and take part in the timely finalisation of monthly, quarterly and annual accounts for internal use and external audit purposes
- Prepare and reconcile monthly PPE (incl ROUA) movement, consolidation and accounting reports.
- Take lead as the Account-in-charge for foreign operations
- Liaising with external auditors during HY review and Year-End audit
- Perform reconciliation for key balance sheet accounts such as PPE (incl. ROUA) and lease liabilities, etc.
- Monitor lease and loan repayments and other treasury duties
- Assist with the preparation of FBT
- BAS lodgement
- General monthly accounting functions (allocation of insurance and depreciation to the respective projects, monthly payroll reconciliation and month-end Wages accruals)
- Partner with operational teams to drive cost improvements, manage intercompany asset transactions, and support systems and ad hoc financial tasks.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline, supported by a minimum of 3+ years’ accounting experience, ideally within the Mining and resources or other heavy industry sectors.
- Must hold a valid CPA/CA qualification or be in progress
- Proven experience providing finance and business partnering in similar role OR Auditing background; ideally with 3 years + in mid-tier or big 4 firm.
- Experience in using Pronto, JDE, Xero & OneStream (preferable but not essential).
- Demonstrated capability in financial accounting, analysis, reporting, and supporting operational stakeholders.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
