MACA is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to support the Maintenance and Engineering teams, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of mobile plant equipment in a mining environment.
This role offers hands-on experience in maintenance planning, failure analysis, reliability engineering, and project execution. As part of a structured graduate development program, the position emphasizes enhancing technical skills and operational knowledge in mining and heavy industrial settings.

Key responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and execution of preventative and corrective maintenance activities for plant and equipment.
- Work closely with trades, supervisors, and planners to support day-to-day maintenance operations.
- Participate in root cause analysis of mechanical failures and assist in developing action plans.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and reducing downtime.
- Support condition monitoring activities.
- Assist in maintaining accurate maintenance records, reports, and engineering documentation.
- Participate in engineering design, procurement, and commissioning of minor capital and improvement projects.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Engage in structured learning and development, including rotations across maintenance disciplines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, reliability, and safety departments.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent, recognised by Engineers Australia)
- Knowledge of mechanical systems (e.g., pumps, conveyors, crushers, hydraulic systems).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; exposure to CMMS (e.g., SAP, Pronto) is an advantage.
- Eligible for registration as a Graduate Engineer.
