The Role
MACA are seeking a Hire Manager for a permanent, fulltime position based in Welshpool, with occasional site travel.
Reporting to the Asset Manager – Fleet, you will be responsible for the hire of plant and heavy earthmoving equipment for the Mining and Civil divisions across Western Australia, with a strong focus on cost control and the safe, timely delivery of equipment to support project requirements.

Key result areas include:
- Strategically plan and manage the hire of heavy plant and equipment across the Australia West region
- Liaise with Plant and Project Managers to negotiate hire rates and identify, implement, and maintain system efficiencies and improvements in line with control estimates
- Liaise and negotiate rates and terms with suppliers, as well as internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with Mining and Civil operations to coordinate the hire of required equipment for projects
- Manage on-hire and off-hire contracts
- Process equipment hires and off-hires in accordance with established procedures
- Negotiate terms and coordinate delivery and collection in line with operational requirements
- Work autonomously with a strong focus on established procedures and strict adherence to WHS policies
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ISO requirements
- Effectively discuss and resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders in a professional and timely manner
- Demonstrate commitment to MACA’s Safety, Health and Environment policies, ‘Zero Harm’ objective, STAR program, Fitness for Work policy, and MACA’s vision and core values
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Mechanical background with a Trade Certificate or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years’ proven experience as a Hire Manager managing heavy earthmoving plant
- Current Australian HR Class driver’s licence
- Ability to assess equipment condition and service requirements, and select appropriate machinery for projects
- Strong commercial awareness, including market trends, pricing strategies, and growth opportunities
- Demonstrated experience in plant hire operations
- Proficiency in standard logistics software
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong computer literacy, including fleet and equipment maintenance systems, spreadsheets, and ERP platforms
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, including availability outside standard business hours
