The Role
MACA are seeking a fulltime, permanent Purchasing Lead to join our corporate office located in Welshpool working Monday to Friday.
Reporting to the Procurement Manager – Australia West you will lead the regional Purchasing function, collaborating with the offshore Purchasing Hub, delivering efficient, cost-effective purchasing services that meet with internal and external customer expectations.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Purchasing Hub to deliver efficient, high-quality procurement services aligned with business needs and KPIs
- Ensure adequate resourcing and capability to meet changing operational demands
- Partner with Operational Managers to plan and deliver purchasing support for key activities (e.g. major shutdowns)
- Drive compliance with procurement policies, systems, and standardised processes, including regular audits and exception reporting
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers to improve service delivery and value outcomes
- Negotiate with suppliers to maximise value, particularly for off-contract and spot purchases
- Act as the escalation point for purchasing-related issues and ensure timely resolution
- Lead, coach, and develop team members, including performance management and capability uplift
- Deliver training and guidance to site teams on purchasing processes, systems, and best practices
- Manage budgets and control expenditure in line with financial targets
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or business administration preferred or equivalent, alternatively a trade / maintenance planning background combined with business administration experience.
- Minimum 6 years’ professional experience in purchasing in the mining or construction industry
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of Purchasing Officers in a centralised model engaged in high volume transaction work
- Relevant experience in purchasing systems, ideally JDE
- Demonstrated experience working with offshore capability hubs
- Experience driving change management initiatives, including the transition to JDE
