MACA are seeking a Purchasing Officer to provide direction and oversight for the purchasing of all materials, parts, equipment and off site services which have been approved for purchase. Additionally, you will help with Identifying alternative suppliers and ensure compliance with national supply agreements.

Key result areas include:
- Procure Heavy Mining Equipment (HME), OEM and aftermarket spare parts, consumables and services in line with operational and maintenance requirements.
- Liaise with maintenance, operations and suppliers to provide timely updates on parts availability, lead times, pricing and delivery status.
- Source cost-effective purchasing solutions through supplier agreements, catalogues, technical manuals and market research.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs and suppliers, negotiate pricing and expedite urgent or breakdown-related orders.
- Interpret technical specifications, parts manuals and equipment information to ensure accurate procurement of HME components and spare parts.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and process purchase orders and invoices through ERP systems including JDE.
- Support maintenance planning and forecasting activities to ensure availability of critical HME parts and minimise equipment downtime.
- Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply processes.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in business, supply chain, procurement or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years’ purchasing or procurement experience within mining, heavy industry, construction or similar operational environments, with exposure to Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) and spare parts procurement.
- Demonstrated understanding of HME equipment, components and maintenance supply requirements, including OEM and aftermarket parts.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, particularly JDE, with strong capability in managing purchasing workflows, supplier coordination and inventory-related processes.
- Strong technical and commercial acumen, with the ability to interpret equipment specifications, parts manuals and supplier quotations to support effective procurement outcomes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with maintenance teams, planners, suppliers and operational personnel in fast-paced mining environments.
- Well-developed negotiation and supplier management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes, manage critical supply issues and maintain strong vendor relationships while ensuring compliance with company standards and procurement policies.
