MACA is seeking an experienced Senior Central Maintenance Planner to provide leadership, technical guidance, and strategic oversight to our central maintenance planning function across multiple sites.  This role is responsible for mentoring and developing a team of maintenance planners, establishing and documenting robust planning processes, and driving consistency and accountability in maintenance planning performance across the business. You will play a key role in developing tools and systems that enable planners to perform effectively, while working closely with site teams and key stakeholders to continuously improve planning outcomes.

In addition to leadership responsibilities, the role will also provide hands-on planning support to smaller sites as required.

A key component of this role is building strong alignment and effective working alliances with Plant Operations teams to ensure maintenance planning activities are fully integrated with operational requirements. This includes collaborating to balance equipment availability, maintenance execution, safety, and cost outcomes across all sites.

Key responsibilities:

 

Leadership and Mentoring:

Provide leadership and mentoring for a team of maintenance planners, assisting in upskilling chosen candidates to become maintenance planners.

Provide guidance and support to team members, creating a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

 

Process Development:

Develop processes relating to the maintenance planning function and ensure they are well documented, with flow charts created as required.

Assist in the development of tools and systems to enable team members to carry out their duties effectively.

Document and publish all created tools and processes.

 

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

Monitor and report on the maintenance planning performance of all sites.

Drive accountability for planning KPIs across both site-based and central planners.

Work with all stakeholders to rectify issues related to planning.

 

Safety and Cost Focus:

Maintain a strong focus on safety and cost efficiency in all aspects of the role.

Conduct audits as required to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Work with the Area Managers to create budgets forecasts

 

Planning for Smaller Sites:

Plan for smaller sites as required, fulfilling the role description of central maintenance planner and all the accompanying responsibilities.

 

Continuous Improvement & Feedback:

Review maintenance activity effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.

Provide feedback to the relevant teams on the effectiveness of maintenance strategies.

Support short-term planning functions across the business.

 

Site Engagement:

Conduct site visits at a minimum frequency of once per quarter to maintain strong site engagement and alignment.

 

Operational Alignment & Stakeholder Engagement

Build strong working relationships with Plant Operations teams to ensure maintenance plans align with production and operational requirements.

Collaborate with site leadership to balance maintenance schedules, equipment availability, and operational priorities.

Act as a key interface between Planning, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to drive aligned decision-making.

Proactively resolve conflicts between operational demands and maintenance requirements through structured planning and communication.

 

Be accountable for the review of maintenance activity success, continual improvement, and support to the short-term planning function at the company.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Experience in mobile plant maintenance planning and scheduling
  • Experience in developing and managing maintenance management systems – AMT and/or JDE is advantageous
  • Experience in prioritising multiple tasks and successfully working to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience of a small team
  • Ability to demonstrate up to date knowledge and theory across asset management principles and standards
  • Previous experience 5-7 years’ short term maintenance scheduling in an active mining environment.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with people at all levels.
  • Effective organisation and planning skills.
