MACA is seeking an experienced Plant Operations Manager to join our leadership team based in Welshpool.
Reporting to the General Manager – Maintenance Operations (Australia West), you will lead the strategic and operational management of the company’s mobile plant assets, ensuring fleet reliability, safety and cost-effectiveness across all mining services operations.

Key result areas include:
- Lead the development and execution of fleet and asset management strategies that maximise equipment reliability, availability, utilisation, and whole-of-life value across mining operations.
- Provide leadership to maintenance workshop, field service, and asset management teams, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Oversee the maintenance and lifecycle management of mobile plant and ancillary equipment, ensuring compliance, minimising downtime, and supporting operational delivery across multiple sites.
- Develop and manage operating and capital expenditure budgets, delivering accurate forecasting, reporting, and recommendations to optimise asset investment and business performance.
- Monitor fleet operating, maintenance, and inventory costs, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety, reliability, and productivity.
- Drive workforce capability through effective resource planning, succession planning, coaching, and development to meet current and future operational requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Diesel, Plant Mechanics, or related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years' experience in mining, mining services, heavy industry, or related sectors.
- Demonstrated experience managing large mobile plant fleets.
- Proven leadership experience within maintenance and operational environments.
- Experience developing and managing operational budgets and asset management strategies.
- Strong understanding of maintenance management systems (JDE, Pronto, AMT, or similar).
- Experience managing multi-site operations and dispersed workforces.
- Proven ability to drive sound commercial outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills.
- Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills with people at all levels.
- Proven ability to demonstrate strong business acumen.
- Excellent organisation and planning skills.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and change management skills.
